In San Francisco, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across California, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and San Francisco follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I like the concept of a customizable ice cream sando, and the cookies were good, but unfortunately the ice cream was significantly freezer burnt. We had a couple bites and then chucked it in the garbage. Maybe we just got unlucky? We ordered Carmel pretzel fudge ice cream, with pecan pie cookies. I think I would give this place a second chance though.

So, my mom always talks up The Baked Bear, and after finally going on a trip to Alcatraz, I got to try it! I went with the Bear Bowl and their super popular Bear Batter Ice Cream! The cookie was seriously packed with flavor, so buttery, and you could even taste the salt. The ice cream was PHENOMENAL! ๐Ÿป ๐Ÿช

Stumbled upon this spot after eating pizza across the street. Ice Cream sandwich was very good, but on the expensive side. Service was fast, not much of a line. Interior had limited seating but we found a spot.

โญโญโญโญโญ Absolute Dessert Heaven in North Beach! If you're in San Francisco, you cannot miss The Baked Bear at their prime Columbus Avenue location. Itโ€™s right on the edge of North Beach and Chinatown, making it the ultimate spot to hit after a dinner in Little Italy. The Food: The customisation here is a sugar-lover's dream. I built a sandwich with a Gooey Butter Cake cookie on the bottom and a Cookie Monster cookie on top, stuffed with their signature blue Bear Batter ice cream. Pro Tip: You must get it hot-pressed. They put the whole sandwich in a press that warms the cookies just enough to make them gooey without completely melting the ice cream. Itโ€™s a total game-changer. Variety: If you're not in the mood for a sandwich, their Bear Bowls (warm cookie or brownie bowls) are equally incredible. They also have solid vegan and gluten-free options. The Experience: Vibe: The shop has a fun, trendy atmosphere with cool neon signs and a few tables inside to sit and watch the action on Columbus Ave. Late Night: Itโ€™s one of the best late-night spots in the area, staying open until 2:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Service: Despite the lines often snaking out the door, the staff are super
